About Seniors Helping Seniors Central East Florida
SHS was recommended to me by a family friend to find a companion for my Mother who suffers from Alzheimer's. Ms. Emily came to meet us and assess her needs, likes and dislikes. The result was a PERFECT MATCH!!!! She introduced Ms. Valerie and Ms. Lisa to my Mom and it was a fabulous fit! Both ladies provided wonderful friendship, kindness, compassion and patience. My Mother truly enjoyed their company and was always happy when they would visit. I CANNOT say enough good things about Valerie and Lisa!! They were a true blessing for my Mom AND for me!! THANK YOU LADIES!!! YOU ARE BOTH ANGELS!!
Sue is my dad's caregiver and she is amazing. My dad had a stroke in 2019 and he has aphasia. It can be very difficult to communicate with him and understand him. He refuses to do speech therapy so communicating is the best way for him to keep up his language skills..but it requires a lot of time and patience. She also takes him to get groceries (he does not drive), doctor appointments, goes on walks, and works on puzzles with him. I have no idea what I would do without Sue! I have kids and a job so I cannot always make it over to help him. Highly recommend if you have a senior who needs help but is also very stubborn and independent.
Seniors Helping Seniors is the absolute best at helping to provide services. Their staff is incredible and have helped me so much with caring for my older sister. Her companion Fonda is the best! She helps do all the things I can’t since I live far away. She is organized, caring and a truly great person. My sister is so happy when Fonda comes to visit. Highly recommend this organization!!
I’ve used several agencies for assistance in Central FL, for my father who is in his late 70s, some dementia, does not drive, and can be extremely stubborn. For the first time in years I feel like I have a support system. I work full time and it’s hard to also be a full time caregiver. The office staff at SHS is very good at communicating. The invoices can be put on autopay. There is a portal so I can see if my loved one is taking care of hygeine on his own or requires assist and if they are accepting assist. He really should be in assisted living but doesnt want to admit it. Shout out to Rachel and Emily in the office, Cheryl, Nurse nSally, and others for helping with showers and appts and other home care. Cheryl and Sally have been especially helpful and I really appreciate it.
My mother-in-law and father-in-law were truly blessed when Sue and Amy became their long-term companions from the SHS East Central FL office in the last year and a half. They both demonstrated incredible love, compassion, dedication and kindness for them. They gave my in-laws the gift of more time and independence living in their own home. God sent them to us and now they are part of our family. Recently my mother-in-law’s care level has increased beyond what Sue and Amy are able to provide so we are now working with SHS’s home health division to assist us with her medical needs. We would highly recommend Sue and Amy as senior helpers and companions.
