About us
I am a third-generation food service person. My grandfather came from Italy wayback in the day and when he sailed into New York Harbor he saw the Statue of Liberty. He was so overjoyed to finally be here in America that he opened a bakery in New Jersey and called it Liberty Bakery and had a picture of the Statue of Liberty in his window.
All of our food is scratch made and all of our smoked foods are smoked on wood burning smokers using only wood, fire, smoke and meats or non-meats… no gas ovens with a little piece of wood to get some smoke flavor, it’s all old school.
Then our baked goods like pies and cakes are hand made and are really phenomenal to say the least… just awesome.
We started our smoked meats journey in 2016 doing festivals and some catering then we built a food trailer and that was awesome and now THANK THE LORD we are in this amazing building and location.
GET LIBERATED FROM COMMERCIAL INSTITUTIONAL BBQ and give us a try!! We think you’ll like it.
Had a really great lunch recently in Oviedo, FL when I stopped by Briskets BBQ Shack & Grill. This old building has housed a lot of BBQ over the years, but this is easily one of the best local to Florida, Texas-style BBQ spots I’ve tried in a long time. It’s a small, mom-and-pop operation, and they’ve transformed the place into an awesome little BBQ shack. I tried the pulled pork, pulled chicken, and sliced brisket sandwiches — all perfectly tender and full of flavor. For sides, I had the baked beans and southern-style green beans with potatoes, and both were excellent. Food is takeout only, but there places to sit outside if you want to stay and eat. Hours can be limited and they do sell out, so go early if you can. I’ll definitely be back. If you like BBQ, try it all!
I came here on a Monday evening. Upon entrance, I realized that this establishment was just a described, a shack. However, cleanliness was not in the title nor the shack. There were three people working, two of whom I had interaction with. Alyssa & Pete were very friendly and interested in the fact that there was a customer present, the third was crouched down to the ground on his phone hovering by a cooler of sorts. I had the two meat w/two side platter with no drink. The ribs were 50% off so for 1/2 slab & brisket, "smoked mac n cheese" & Bob's beans. My total was $29 & change. The brisket was the star of the show here but was the last amount I've ever gotten at any BBQ restaurant in my life. It was tender and tasty. The ribs made me question how long they had been cooked or stored because the bones dissolved when attempting to pick it up to eat it. And the sides? Well the sides were so underwhelming that I was left in awe with disappointment. They were cold, and I mean not even luke warm. Smoked mac & cheese was merely elbow noodles that had a sad attempt of a cheese sauce put on it as I ordered it with no smoke flavor whatsoever, was it really smoked? Highly unlikely. The beans were mediocre at best, but covered with a super sweet BBQ sauce that was trying to mask the lackluster flavor. Over all, if you'd like a tremendously overpriced meal with hopes & dreams in the oh so far distance than this is the place for you. If your looking for a full well balanced quality meal that is quality for the money you spend then I'd just skip this place. Sorry but I will not be recommending to anyone...EVER.
We drove across town to check out this BBQ spot and we were not disappointed! It has a counter to order and several indoor tables to eat at. The staff was friendly and attentive. The BBQ was tender and not dry. We liked their sauce. If you stop by, do yourself a favor and order the mac n cheese! It's the best I've had in years!!
I seen the reviews and decided to give them a try. So here is an honest review based on my opinion. The establishment seems very popular, and the smell of the smoked meat lured me in for sure. Parking is “ self parking and first come first serve “ aka fit in where you can adjacent to the restaurant. This is a good “ as they say mom and pop restaurant “ aka seemed to be family owned. Really gave “ Florida vibes “ aka southern hospitality. Small in the inside and out . Nice picnic seating “ outdoors to eat your meal . Staff were welcoming and friendly. Clean and well staffed. I really wanted some ribs, but I was told they ran out, wanted some chicken, was told they ran out lol. So note to self. “ come early , got it. So I settled for the burnt ends and pulled pork. Both meats were tender and juicy . The beans were al dente , the Mac and cheese was interesting- boiled pasta with the cheese poured on top . But if I may suggest a little seasoning, for example “salt and pepper would really make it irresistible. The sweet potato, could use some flavor , may I suggest cinnamon and brown sugar ? The added nuts is a great touch. I also purchased the meat pies, they were nice and flaky and buttery with good tender meat inside. I was disappointed that I didn’t have any bbq sauce on my meat or even on the side, for a bbq joint, I thought this would have been offered “ again even on the side but no. I think the meat pies would be great with something to dip them in, as well as the option for “ bbq sauce “ toppings on the meat. And as I mentioned, I am debating if I want to try them again, I would like to try the ribs and chicken? I’m indecisive at the moment. The large portion sizes are a plus, but it’s more side portion than meat portion , but you still get “ full “ for what you pay.
A pretty good BBQ spot! Meats are tasty, juicy, my fav were the burnt ends. Side was pretty good, good taste. The corn bread is broken up , more like corn bread crumbs. The beans were the best side! So good! Would come back, the staff was also very nice and accommodating.
